Measuring for the Correct Size

How to measure:

Height:  Measure from the top of the head down to the floor.  Make sure the feet are bare and on a flat surface with normal good posture.

Hat:  Place the tape measure around the head over the temples and above the ears.

Neck:  Measure around the fullest part of the neck with enough room for a finger under the tape.

Bust:  Measure around the fullest part of bust - place tape under the arms, then relax them down at your side, while measuring



Chest:  Measure around chest just under arms across shoulder blades with arms rested at your sides.

Coat/Dress Length:  Measure from the highest point of the shoulder down to the desired style length of the coat/long dress. Depends on car coat, trench coat, suit coat, mini-skirt, pioneer dress or whatever.

Waist: Measure around normal waistline which appears as a crease when bending to one side.

Hips:  Measure around the fullest part of the hips/buttocks at the top of the legs with feet together.

Rise:  Measure from the crotch to the top of the waistband.

Inseam:  Take some pants that fit you correctly and measure from inside crotch seam to the hem of the pants.

Shoes:  Go to any store, preferably self-service like PayLess, and use their black and chrome measuring devices.
